Forensic Evaluations

Fresh Sands Counseling & Consulting Services specializes in a range of forensic mental health services for juvenile and adult courts, including competency and criminal responsibility evaluations, risk assessments for violence, sex offending, and fire setting, competency restoration, and counseling. We provide comprehensive evaluations that are driven by research and objective data, and we are committed to providing high-quality services to our clients. 

We recognize that delays in such forensic services have created challenges for courts throughout the state of Michigan. A primary goal of Fresh Sands is to help ameliorate these delays and to provide comprehensive services quickly. We strive to reduce delays and costs for the court and expedite the process for defendants and participants in the legal process. We have developed software to automatically integrate questionnaires, background information, and data from records into our reports to reduce the time spent on report writing and editing. We use advanced AI software to assist with editing, software development, and staying up to date on the latest research. We also understand the importance of timely and accurate evaluations and are dedicated to delivering reports in a timely manner. Our practice is equipped with the latest technology and resources to ensure that we are able to provide the most accurate and up-to-date evaluations possible. 

We also offer consultation services to assist attorneys in understanding the results of our evaluations and how they can be used in legal proceedings. We are available to provide expert testimony in court, and we are committed to providing our clients with the support they need throughout the legal process. 

Our goal is to remove as many barriers to quality forensic care as we can. We are available to travel throughout the state of Michigan and to schedule multiple evaluations on the same day to reduce travel charges. We can utilize video technology for forensic services when appropriate to reduce costs, increase accessibility, and expedite services.
